‘My work often focuses on individuals who are at home in their bodies. I prioritise authentic bodies having authentic experiences in almost all of my work, perhaps because subconsciously it mirrors the experience of me making the work.

For this painting I wanted Oli to be quietly contemplative, and to let the light be the drama and energy of the painting. The colours really add to the paintings vibrancy, and by limiting the values to such dynamic colours its suggests a kind of vivid interior life on to him, as he sits calmly next to his Monstera.

I love plants for their visual qualities, but I also like them as a metaphor for our own experiences. Growing, changing, in constant need of nourishing, and both a part, and a symbol, of the natural world.’

- James

Each work is initialed in the artists signature style in the bottom right hand corner of the work, and signed by the artist and dated on the back. The painting is shipped pre strung and ready to hang.
